    Admission Procedure

    Elsley Primary School is a community school.
    Admissions are managed by Brent Local Authority.

    If you wish to apply for a school place at any-time in the year, contact Brent Council.
    The council will contact you with the outcome of your application.
    If you are a Brent resident, the quickest and easiest way to apply for a school place is online by visiting 
    www.brent.gov.uk/admissions.  
    Alternatively, call Brent Admissions for an application pack on 0208 937 3110 from Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm.

    Nursery and Reception Class Applications:

    The deadline for Nursery and Reception applications is Monday 15th January 2024

    Nursery 2024 Applications:

    Applications are now being accepted for Part-Time Nursery places starting in September 2024. If your child was born between 1st September 2020 - 31st August 2021, please collect an application form from the school office.

    Reception 2024 Applications:

    Applications for Reception places starting September 2024 are not being accepted online by Brent School Admissions as the deadline has now passed. If your child was born between 1st September 2019 - 31st August 2020, you must have applied for a Reception place online. There is no automatic transfer from Nursery to Reception.

    Parents with Pupils in Year 6 applying for a Secondary School Place for September 2025

    If your child was born between 1st September 2013 - 31st August 2014 and is starting secondary school in September 2025, you will need to apply for a school place between 1st September 2024 and 31st October 2024 - Closing Date.

    We host a secondary school information fair each year giving pupils and parents an opportunity to meet Headteachers of different schools.
    We offer support to parents to help with the application process. Please ask at the office to book an appointment.

    Admission Arrangements for Pupils with Special Educational Needs

    Parents inform the school via the School’s Application Form. The Special Needs Co-ordinator is alerted and if the child has a Statement/ EHC (Education, Health & Care) Plan a formal meeting is set up with the parent, Special Needs Co-ordinator and a School Leader, to discuss if the school can meet the needs of the child.
    The site supervisor is informed if any adjustments to the school building need to be made. e.g.:- further ramps, toilet facilities, heights of chairs and tables etc.
    Resources are discussed – both staffing and equipment.
    The Special Needs Co-ordinator from the previous school or setting is contacted
    The child is discussed and his or her SEN records are requested.
    Liaison with outside agencies takes place and the class teacher is consulted.
    An individual education plan is put in place on admittance.

    Admission Arrangements for Pupils with Disabilities

    Parents need to inform the school of any disabilities via the School’s Admission form. 

    The SENDCO is informed by SENAS (Special Educational Needs Assessment Service) if a child has a Statement/ EHC. 

    A formal meeting is set up with the parent and the SENDCO, to discuss whether the school is able to meet the child’s needs. The Special Needs Co-ordinator attends regular training which she cascades to other members of staff. 
    Staff also attend a range of courses to ensure that they have the expertise to support the pupils in their care.

    Layout of buildings:
    Nursery, Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 are all on the ground floor and accessible by wheelchair.
    Year 3 and Year 4 classrooms each have 2 classrooms on the ground floor and two classrooms on the first floor (no lift available). For pupils in Year 3 or Year 4 with mobility difficulties, we would base them in a ground floor classroom.
    In our new building, Year 5 and Year 6 are upstairs as well as our computing, cooking and music rooms. These are all wheelchair accessible via a lift.
